Wheelyboat launch steers St Piers students to fun outdoors
On Friday 23 June Young Epilepsy hosted the launch of a Coulam Wheelyboat V20, which was funded by various donors, including our very own Scott Baptie, Olly Whitefoot, Alex Acraman and Marcus Frisby from the Weir Wood Reservoir.
The wheelchair accessible boat, located at Weir Wood Reservoir in East Sussex, is available for all young people at St Piers School and College to use.
One of the young people present at the Wheelyboat launch was St Piers student, Jack Benson. During the speeches Jack used his iPad, which he uses to communicate, to write 'Thank you for the boat' which played for the attendees to hear. This shows the true appreciation the children and young people at St Piers have for this incredible donation.
Among those in attendance were Jess Cook, National Partners Advisor at the English Federation of Disability Sports (EFDS) and Andy Beadsley, the Director of The Wheelyboat Trust - the charity that designed and developed the boat.

Young Epilepsy is very pleased to accept the Coulam Wheelyboat V20. This boat offers each young person, at Young Epilepsy, amazing opportunities to embrace the outdoors and take part in adventurous activities on the water. The Wheelyboat will not only broaden our young people’s horizons, but also encourage them to experience new physical activities as well as enrich their lives through adventure and challenge. We have had the most fantastic support from The Wheelyboat Trust and our charitable donors who have made this possible. I am confident our young people will be benefitting from their generosity for years to come.
