St Piers School has recently been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award 2016-2019 in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.
The International School Award is a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education. St Piers School continues to promote and embed the international dimension across the curriculum and to highlight the benefits of global learning.
The ‘Guiding Principles’ section of St Piers school’s vision, has a section on Internationalism, which begins with the statement: ˜Understanding the world around us is important to us at St Piers’, and on Diversity, which states: ˜Celebrating differences is very important to us at St Piers, and we work hard to improve equality and diversity at our school’.
As a result of St Piers School’s international work, pupils have increased contact with the wider community through contact with UK partner schools, visiting local places of worship and ethnic food shops and fundraising for charity.
Other programmes the school was involved in, are Erasmus+ Mobility for Staff with the Estonian partner, and Visible Classrooms, facilitated by Melbourne University. The school is also involved in the Eco-schools and Healthy schools programmes as well.
