Vivien Hepworth

Vivien’s career encompasses journalism, business, the voluntary sector and the NHS. A graduate of Manchester University, she became a journalist, spending eight years as a political correspondent. She spent 17 years in consultancy becoming Chief Executive of communication group Grayling’s public affairs operation.

Vivien worked from 1997-2002 at St Piers (now Young Epilepsy), as Director of Marketing, then Marketing and Fundraising. She was a board member of Surrey and Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust from 1998-2002, latterly as chairman.

Vivien is President of the Nystagmus Network, a self-help group for those who have nystagmus – a visual impairment – and their families. She founded the charity after her eldest son was diagnosed with the condition. Vivien was a trustee for nine years of the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment.

Vivien lives in Lingfield and since retirement plays an active role in village community affairs.

Feedback from parents

Quote Icon We were so apprehensive to send our son to a residential school but cannot believe the wonderful progress he has made and are so grateful to all the staff. The first time we returned from a term break he could not get out of the car quick enough with the biggest smile which was so reassuring. During his first break at home everyone commented on how much better his behaviour was and he was so much more relaxed himself. Thank-you.
