Application & admissions

Simple and straightforward process

St Piers School and College offer places for students with epilepsy, autism, severe learning difficulties, speech, language, and communication needs, and sensory and/or physical needs.

In both settings, we work with young people to create personalised learning programmes appropriate to their individual needs and abilities. Our aim is to help them to fulfil realistic aspirations, achieve their goals, and develop meaningful and relevant skills for everyday life in society

The applications and admissions process is simple and straightforward.

Please follow the steps below and don’t hesitate get in touch if you have any queries, using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

How to apply

We know that the application and funding process can seem a bit daunting but we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Our expert admissions team are happy to guide you through the process and are on hand to answer any questions you may have.

1. Join one of our virtual open days

We hold virtual open days regularly throughout the year. Dates and links to book places are available here - virtual open days and informal visits

2. Come for an informal visit

If the virtual open day has made you think we might be the right school or college for your son or daughter, call us to arrange an informal visit or, if you’re ready to apply, you can go straight to stage 3 and complete an application form

3. Complete an application form

Download an application form or simply email us at  education@stpiers.org.uk and we'll send you one.

4. Return the form and supporting documents

Check the website and application form to make sure you have included everything. Having all right information speeds the process along and means we don’t have to come back to you to ask for more!

5. Application review

Our specialist team will review your application and, if we think we can meet your son or daughter's needs, we will contact you to arrange an assessment and familiarisation visit. We will also let your local authority know you have expressed an interest in a St Piers place for your son or daughter.

6. Familiarisation visit

You and your child will spend time with experts from some of our teams, including education, residential (if you're looking for a residential placement), therapy and medical.

7. St Piers’ decision

Following the familiarisation visit, we will let you know if we can meet your child’s needs and offer them a place with us.

8. Placement offer goes to local authority

We will submit a formal offer, together with your son or daughter's assessment reports and a funding request, to your local authority.

9. Local authority decision

Your local authority will let you know if they agree that we can meet your child's needs and whether or not they will fund the placement.
